A Special Delivery for Jeremy

When I got up this morning, there was a box on the table with glitter all over it and the table! It was sparkly and pretty, but also a very big mess. The package was addressed to Jeremy from Santa so I had to wait for Jeremy to get up to see what was inside. It is Saturday so he got to sleep in. It seemed like forever before he woke up! He slept three hours later than I did so I had a long time to wait.

Jeremy finally got up just before eight. He was so excited to see the box because he got one like it last year.

As he was opening it, he said, "I hope it is a magic mailbox again!"

Santa taped it shut with peppermint duct tape so it was a little difficult to open. After he got one side cut, we discovered that the tape on top wasn't stuck tight so he was able to pull it off.

Inside the box was letter explaining that it was indeed one of Santa's magic mailboxes. The letter explained that the mailbox has a direct connection to the North Pole. Whenever Jeremy puts a letter in the mailbox, it will be magically sent to the North Pole that night while everyone is sleeping. Then Santa can write him back using the mailbox to deliver it. Santa will pick the mailbox up on Christmas Eve to take back to the North Pole, but Jeremy can write to him as often as he wants until then.

Here are some more pictures of Jeremy with Santa's mailbox...

After we put the mailbox on the entertainment center, Jeremy and I went to the dining room to clean up the glitter. It was everywhere! Most of it was on the table, and we were able to brush most of that into the garbage, but there was some on the chairs and floor, including a path of glitter from Jeremy taking the box into the living room. Jeremy is writing to Santa right now. He said he is going to ask him to use his magic to make the rest of the glitter dissolve. He is such a fun kid, and I'm very lucky to have him as my little brother!

I'm still living!/Summer Fun

Hi all! I just wanted to post a quick entry to let you know I'm still alive and well. I've been blessed to have quite a bit going on lately. We've been having a busy, but fun summer. This year, in addition to our yearly zoo membership, we also have family memberships to Clark Planetarium and the Living Planet Aquarium as well as season passes to Lagoon. In addition to all of the fun busyness, I'm also preparing to be in the Main Street Arts Festival in Magna on August 24th. We haven't yet heard if we've been accepted as a vendor, but I'm getting ready anyway. Here are some fun pictures of what we've been doing lately...

At Clark Planetarium...

 At Lagoon...

By the way, I also cut my hair. This Before/After was made the first time I cut it in May, but it is actually a little shorter than that now...

I hope you are all having a great summer too!

New Family Member

Wow! I didn't realize it had been so long since my last post! Anyway, I just wanted to post a couple quick pictures to show you the newest member of our family. This is Shaylee, Jeremy's new cat. Blackjack isn't too happy about the new addition, but after a night in jail (his kennel), he is being nice now. Shaylee still lashes out at him, but only when she is backed in a corner and he won't take the hint when she hisses at him for smelling her. I've got to run. There is so much to do before my trip!

P.S. I actually wrote this yesterday, but it took me a while to get the pictures from Jeremy's camera. Blackjack and Shaylee are getting along a little better. At least Blackjack has learned to leave her alone when she hisses at him. Now, we just need to get Shaylee to play nice. :)

P.P.S. My goal is to post some pictures from my vacation on here. I'm not making any promises, but check back soon.

Christmas 2012

I know this is late, but that is me! Here are some pictures from the fun things we did this Christmas.

We went to ZooLights on the 30th of November. I didn't get many pictures this year so this is the best one I have. However, I was finally able to get a semi-decent video of the Twelve Days of Christmas display.

Mom and I made an awesome gold and purple wreath. We were going to use a real wreath, but when we went to buy one, they were all half brown! Anyway, I'm really happy with the way it turned out.

We took some "Silent Night" pictures of Jeremy. (Don't worry, we used paper so the duct tape isn't really on his mouth, and we used Goo Gone to get the tiny corners that were holding it to his face off so it didn't hurt him a bit.)

See the aluminun pom-pom tree in the background? It is my favorite Christmas tree, and my dad was awesome enough to pull it out of the attic so we could set it up. Unfortunately, it wasn't practical for the space we had so we ended up taking it down a couple weeks later to put up a smaller tree.

Jeremy and I decorated giant gingerbread people. I bought a ton of candy for it, and it was a lot of fun. In the first picture, Jeremy is making his gingerbread man give peace signs. Jeremy's gingerbread man ate a butterfly and Santa candy. Jeremy made up a rhyme to go with it similar to The Old Lady Who Swallowed a Fly. I'm not sure why the second picture is on its side, but that one is mine. She has a belt on her skirt because she had broken in half on the way home from the store.

We had a lot of fun on Christmas Day too. Santa brought Skylanders Giants for Jeremy. I think that was his favorite gift this year. He also got a balance bird which his loves to spin on his finger and balance on his nose.

Check out the awesome T-shirt Kurtis gave me. It says, "NERD? I Prefer The Tern Intellectual Badass!"

The coolest gift I got this Christmas? I GOT A HIPPOPOTAMUS FOR CHRISTMAS!!! Mom found this toy hippopotamus and made it a little bed in a big matchbox. It was so cool because I love the song, "I Want a Hippopotamus for Christmas" by Gayla Peevey. I absolutely love it!

I hope you all had a great Christmas. Have a very happy 2013!

Happy Easter!

Okay. Maybe it is a little late for "Happy Easter!" or extremely early depending on how you look at it, but I've finally finished the Easter 2012 video I've been working on since Easter. Granted, I've been busy with other things like helping Mom recover from her wrist surgery, but still...It took FOR-EV-ER! Enjoy!

ZooLights

Last Wednesday night, I took my family (minus Kurtis because he is a party pooper!) to ZooLights. ZooLights is an annual event at Hogle Zoo that runs through the month of December. The zoo gets decked out in holiday lights and animated light displays. It is awesome! This year was Jeremy's first time going, and we let him take his best friend along too. Jeremy's favorite part was the super rich, chocolatey deep-fried s'mores. I think that was his friend's favorite part too, but I didn't get a chance to ask him. For me, it is a tough decision, but there is one light display that I like best. It shows two frogs and a fly. One of the frogs sticks his tongue out to get the fly and ends up hitting the other frog in the face!

It was really hard to take steady pictures of the light displays, but sometimes the ones that don't turn out are the coolest.

Me, Jeremy, and his friend stood in line to see Santa.

Jeremy and his friend got to write a quick letter to Santa while they were waiting. Then Santa read them while they were sitting with him. Afterwards, they got to mail their letters in a special mailbox. For each letter that goes into that mailbox, Macy's donates $1 to the Make-A-Wish Foundation, one of my favorite charities. I think there is a mailbox at Macy's too.

Comet and Vixen were there too.

We had a really great time! If you want to check it out, click on the next picture for the ZooLights information page.

Festival of Trees 2011

Mom, Kurtis, Jeremy, and I went to the Festival of Trees on Wednesday. I like going to the Festival of Trees because it is so much fun. I'm not even sure I could pick one favorite part, but the Small Fry shop is pretty awesome. It is like a gift shop for kids to shop at. Everything there is under five dollars, and most of it is cute things made out of felt and stuffed with candy. Here is a picture of a few things we bought. Jeremy has already taken the candy out of his Christmas light, but it was too cute to leave out.

Jeremy's favorite part is the bubble machine. You get to stand inside of a bubble! He also likes to watch the dancers that perform there. Here is a picture of Jeremy in the bubble machine.

Kurtis really likes to look at the gingerbread houses. There is always some really cool ones. This year the fanciest one was a replica of the U.S. Capitol Building, but I wasn't able to get a good picture of it because of the crowd. Kurtis liked the semi-truck best, and I liked the Tangled tower. Here are a couple gingerbread pictures.

Santa was awesome, too. He was extra jolly and a lot of fun. I took several pictures of Jeremy on his lap, but only one turned out decent because I'm still getting used to my new camera. Here is the best one.

We all had a really good time. If you'd like to go to the Festival of Trees, you better go now. It ends at 10PM this Saturday. Visit their website for more information: Click Here. All the proceeds from the Festival of Trees benefit Primary Children's Medical Center.

Three rings and a smile!

My little brother can be a real sweetie. He spent the morning with his maternal grandma. They stopped at Smith's where she let him get some rings from the quarter machines by the door. He got four of them. One he is saving to give his school friend when school starts again. He gave the other three to me. They are super cute! There is a lime green kitty face, a light pink mickey mouse face, and my favorite: a hot pink heart! Even though they barely go past the first knuckle on my pinky and ring fingers, I still wear them because Jeremy was so excited to give them to me.

I was wearing the kitty and the heart while I was folding some sheets in the laundry room. I had just finished folding my purple sheet when I noticed that the heart ring was missing! The heart ring was my favorite so I immediately started searching for it. I found the heart folded in my purple sheet, but I still couldn't find the ring part. Jeremy came downstairs to talk to me, and asked if I was okay. I said, "Sort of. My heart ring broke, and I can't find the ring part." So he helped me look for it. He found it under the washing machine.

We were both excited when he found it. It is really cool when the little things make you happy. If you wait for the big things to make you happy, you miss out on a lot of the little thrills in life.
